You haven't experienced Alaska until you've gotten up close and personal with some of the powerful canine athletes that partake, and even compete, in Alaska's favorite sport, dog mushing. Your half-day, family-friendly tour is full of Alaska adventure, history and awe-inspiring wilderness. Begin with a scenic motorcoach drive to Dyea and gain insight into Alaska's Klondike National Historical Park. At the Musher's Camp, a 4x4 Unimog drives you to a thrilling summertime ride aboard a custom-built wheeled sled pulled by a team of powerful sled dogs. You'll head out along a scenic wooded trail with views of the Taiya Inlet tidal flats. Learn about this adventurous sport from experienced mushers and enjoy play time with a passel of tail-wagging puppies. Live Gold Rush history when you pan for gold, then gather around the campfire to roast s'mores. An optional waterfall hike and a little shopping for souvenirs in the gift shop is the perfect conclusion to this exhilarating day.
Special Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layers to be prepared for any type of weather. Some walking on uneven terrain may be required and ride may be bumpy. Guests must be able to raise their legs 12 inches to accommodate several steps. Sled dog ride covers one mile. In order to participate, children must be able to understand the rules of interaction with the dogs and a parent or guardian must be present to supervise any interaction.Liability waiver is required to be signed in the presence of the tour operator.
Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Children between the ages of 16 and 18 must have a signed parental consent form and provide advance notice to participate without a parent or guardian.
