Enjoy a uniquely Alaskan experience and learn about the official state sport of dog mushing with a visit to an authentic dogsledding summer training camp. Ideal for the entire family, your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to an adventure camp in Dyea, an old gold rush town. Once you arrive, you'll meet experienced mushers and join in a "Musher Talk" for a fascinating discussion of what it takes to be a musher in punishing races like the Iditarod dog sled race. After a question and answer period, you can meet the puppies that will one day lead the team. Then, you're invited to sit around the campfire for s'mores followed by a self-guided nature hike or browse the gift shop and relax in the saloon with a deck overlooking a picturesque stream.
