Escape to the Italian countryside on this guided excursion of the medieval city of Orvieto. A steep, winding road creates a dramatic entrance to this fortified medieval town, home to world famous vineyards, hand-made ceramics, and the Duomo, a magnificent 13th century cathedral. The highlight to any day spent in Orvieto is a visit to this great Gothic building, featuring elaborate carvings and dazzling mosaic work. The interior frescos include Signorelli's masterpiece, "Last Judgment." Lunch is served in a local restaurant featuring traditional Umbrian dishes, and is followed by free time to browse the boutiques, which showcase the handicrafts of the area. In addition to majolica pottery, you'll find intricate lace making, woodcrafts and charming Pinocchio dolls. Your day concludes with a return motorcoach ride to port, affording beautiful scenic views and relaxed conversation about all you have seen in the magical city of Orvieto.

This tour is not available to passengers beginning or ending their voyage in Civitavecchia (Rome).Shops may be closed on Sunday's and public holidays. However, souvenir shops will be open.
Tour groups are not allowed inside the Duomo during mass services. If a mass service is taking place, your guide will explain the church from the outside only and you will then be allowed to view the interior on your own.
Proper attire that covers shoulders and legs must be worn by both men and women in the Duomo of Orvieto - mini-skirts, shorts and capri pants are not acceptable.
Euros or credit cards are required for purchases.
Photography and video are not permitted inside the Duomo.
This tour may operate in reverse order.
