Ideal for first time visitors and those who prefer little or no walking, this leisurely tour offers an unhurried look at Tarquinia and its medieval treasures. Dating back to 9th century BC Etruscans, the hilltop city stands 436 feet overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and surrounded by a medieval wall and turrets. Upon arrival, you'll board the Trolley Train where an informative guide will share his knowledge of the city as it meanders through the narrow, cobblestone streets. Highlights include the 13th century St. Francesco Church, famed as the site where St. Francis performed a miracle; the 14th century Town Hall Lodge, once the home of government and military offices; the 13th century Cathedral of Santa Margherita; and the Palazzo dei Priori, built between 1293 and 1443. Here, you'll have the chance to shop, take photos and enjoy the Italian specialty known as gelato before returning to the pier.
