Settle in for a relaxed motorcoach drive through the splendid countryside of Dorset. Your route takes you toward Cerne Abbas, a charming village, located in the valley of the River Cerne and centered around a Benedictine abbey founded in 987 AD. The unusual geology of the area lends itself to the carving of chalk-like figures into the sloping hillside, the most notable is the Cerne Abbas Giant, which measures over 180 feet tall. A picturesque country road leads you to historic Athelhampton House. You'll enjoy a visit to the Tudor architectural gem, centered around a Great Hall, built in 1485. Discover various rooms of the house, including the Great Chamber, the King's Room, the Library and the Gallery. The exterior boasts both formal gardens and woodland scenes, including The Great Court, with pyramid-shaped yew trees. A light refreshment is offered prior to the pleasant ride back to port.
