Prepare for some serious exercise as you hike up two of Norway's most stunning glaciers. Wearing your most sturdy hiking or mountain boots, and warm layers, you may also want to pack a hat, sunglasses, and adequate sun protection, before boarding the motorcoach at Olden harbor. Your guide will narrate the drive through Olden, pointing out the delightful 18th-century village church, and also the William H. Singer home and gallery. At Brenndal Valley you will follow your guide for the first hike up Brenndal Valley (approximately 90-minutes roundtrip). Enjoy the surrounding peaks and from the distance, the magnificent Melkevoll Glacier. Before your second hike, enjoy a delicious two-course lunch, at the charming Briksdal Inn. Heading back out into the valley, you will embark on a second hike to the face of Briksdal Glacier (approximately 90-minutes roundtrip), which boasts dramatic shades of blue and turquoise. Then board the motorcoach for the scenic drive back to Olden.
Special Notes:
Passengers must be at least 10 years old to participate. Parent or adult guardian must accompany minors. Passengers must be in good physical condition.This excursion is hiking only - there is no trek onto the glacial ice. The excursion may be altered or canceled due to weather conditions. Active glacial ice frequently calves from the main flow. Pay heed to posted warnings and listen for signs of calving ice.
Wear sturdy hiking or mountain boots and dress in warm layers. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and adequate sun protection.
