Experience a culinary journey along the coastline of Italy's Campania region and sample the bounty produced from the fertile volcanic soil of Mt. Vesuvius. The next leg of your journey continues at an authentic Limoncello Factory, situated in an unique location that offers a guided walk through the stages of the traditional lemon liqueur production, such as the lemon peeling, the lemon infusing and the final bottling. This unique location also offers also a great variety of Sorrentine specialities, such as pasta, tomato sauce, olive oil, biscuits, candies or traditional ceramics and home-made sandals. Your local tour will end with learning the art of mozzarella-making and samples of the fresh white cheese with salami, wine and mineral water.
Afterwards, you'll head into the town of Sorrento. You'll have two hours of leisure time for shopping and lunch on your own in Sorrento. Your journey continues in Pompeii on a tour of the lost city. Explore excavations that were once buried beneath the ashes when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D. Finally, you'll stop at a cameo factory where artisans carve seashells or coral into intricate pieces of jewelry. Your tour comes to an end back in Naples, where your ship awaits your return.
Special Notes:
Due to earlier closure of Pompeii excavations during the months of November and December, the visit of Sorrento will be made in the afternoon and shops might be closed.This tour does not include lunch. Passengers should bring along euros to purchase a snack during the free time in Sorrento. The tour may operate in reverse order.
Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
For security reasons, large bags, backpacks and trolleys are not permitted inside Pompeii excavations. These large items can be left in the motorcoach. Lockers are not available.
