You'll feel as though you've stepped into the pages of a book. Built in the 1770s, Rose Hall Great House has all the elements of a Gothic novel: a sultry mistress, torrid affairs, violent passion, and deadly revenge. In fact, the H. G. de Lisser novel, "The White Witch of Rose Hall" immortalized Annie Palmer, the plantation's central figure. According to legend, Annie dabbled in witchcraft, brought about the death of one husband and lover after another, and met a violent end. It was during the slave uprisings of 1830 that a slave, and former paramour, murdered her in her bed. Upon the conclusion of your tour of the house and grounds, depart for the scenic drive that takes you through the posh neighborhoods of Rose Hall and Ironshore and back to your ship. There is also time for duty-free shopping at The Shoppes of Rose Hall.
