See how your cup of coffee is actually produced as you follow the coffee bean from the field to the processing plant. The narrated drive takes you through picturesque countryside of Turrialba to the Aquiares Estate, an over 100-year-old coffee mill nestled in a lush valley. Upon arrival, learn about the production of seedlings and techniques for growing this product, Costa Rica's golden bean. Harvesting is the next step in the process, and a demonstration will show how Costa Ricans pick the ripe fruit, called "cherries," by hand to ensure the best quality --their method of harvesting coffee for more than 200 years. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the 'mirador' of this Rainforest Alliance certified estate. Finally, watch the beans roast and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee. Afterward, take a few steps to the historic Aquiares church before enjoying lunch on the grounds.
Special Notes:
Light clothes and comfortable shoes are recommended. There are over 200 steps to reach the 'mirador' lookout spot as an optional hike and a few stairs to descend at the coffee mill. Participants must be able to walk over a 0.5 mile unattended.Child Price:
