Get a rare opportunity to visit a living Native village – and access areas not available to independent guests – combined with a tour of the historic city of Ketchikan. You'll depart your ship for the short motorcoach ride to Saxman Native Village. Enter the Beaver Clan House where you'll witness an elaborate display of traditional songs and dances. Banging drums, infused aromas and regalia portray the stories of the fierce warriors of the village. Then, your guide will share the background of canoe making at the Canoe Canopy. Vixit the Carving Center to look at process of making totems and, in the totem pole park, learn the detailed descriptions about the carved figures and cultural significance of each pole. Your tour concludes with a scenic motorcoach ride back to your cruise ship. Along the way you'll see Alaska's busiest waterfront, bustling with floatplanes and boats; drive by infamous Creek Street, Ketchikan's former red-light district during the Gold Rush; and historic residential areas and the turn-of-the-century style downtown area.
