Discover the charm and history of Kangaroo Island, a scenic gem rich in heritage and natural beauty. Your tour begins in Kingscote, the island's largest town and South Australia's oldest European settlement. Enjoy free time to explore the main street, browse for souvenirs, visit the nearby beach, or chat with friendly locals. Situated along Nepean Bay, Kingscote is also home to a colony of the world's smallest penguins-the aptly named little penguin.
Continue with a scenic drive past Reeves Point, a site of historic significance and the first official European colony in South Australia. Look out for the remains of the old jetty and the remarkable Old Mulberry Tree, planted in 1836 and still thriving today.
Next, visit American River, named after American sealers who camped in the area in 1803 and built the schooner Independence from local timber. The area's peaceful waters and history make it a unique part of the island's story.
Your final stop is Pennington Bay, a photographer's dream. This stretch of coastline offers breathtaking cliffs, pristine beaches, and waters that shift in shades of blue. A popular spot for surfers, it's also perfect for taking in the raw beauty of Kangaroo Island. In the right conditions, dramatic waves crash against the shore and surrounding cliffs, creating stunning scenes for every visitor.
After a photo stop, re-board the coach and return to the ship, taking with you memories of Kangaroo Island's friendly spirit and scenic wonders.
