Stroll along well-maintained trails beneath the world's tallest hardwood trees and continue into the lush rainforest to witness the stunning Russell Falls. Before departing, explore the Interpretation Center and browse the gift shop.
Next, visit Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, located just 30 minutes from Hobart. Named from an Aboriginal word meaning "native companion," Bonorong is home to iconic Australian animals such as Tasmanian devils, wombats, kangaroos, and wallabies. Many roam freely, including Forester kangaroos, which may be hand-fed. Run by a dedicated team, the sanctuary focuses on wildlife rehabilitation and conservation, aiming to reduce extinction through education and care. Naturalist guides are available to assist with animal encounters and questions.
Continue to Meadowbank Farm and Winery, nestled in the scenic Derwent Valley. This family-run estate combines a working sheep farm with a boutique winery. Tour the vineyard, learn about Meadowbank's winemaking heritage, and enjoy a tasting of their award-winning wines.
