Take the road less traveled on a 4WD road expedition, a fun and fast paced way to explore Bonaire's remote and rugged southern and eastern coastline and interior. Your three hour tour begins when you board a 4WD vehicle and leave Kralendijk, Bonaire's capital, traveling through the residential area of Belnem to the salt mountains, impressive, "snowy," white drifts of salt. You'll see the stone huts that slaves crawled into as they worked the salt pans, and perhaps you'll spot flamingos in the distance. Pass Willemstoren Lighthouse, Bonaire's oldest lighthouse and head to Sorobon Beach at Lac Bay. Watch as windsurfers brave the constant trade winds. Here, you can buy drinks from the bar. Continue on dirt roads, bumpy at times, for approximately 80 minutes, heading along the wild east coast with its colossal cacti, wild donkeys, iguanas and birds. Return to the pier with wonderful photos and memories.
